General Information - School Information

Kingsford Community School was official opened in September 2000.

In that first year the school comprised of one year’s intake of three hundred students and only fifteen staff.  This developed to include a new year group of three hundred students every year until the school reached its full compliment of students in 2004.

The school moved to the current site at Beckton during the summer of 2002.  At this point the school had two year groups. From the schools start in 2000 to the present day, the student body has grown from three hundred to nearly one thousand five hundred students.

During our short history we have been very successful in a number of areas.  Our sporting prowess is well established within the Borough, London and the UK.  The school has gained Sports Mark status whilst the football sides have been London Cup winners and national football cup finalists. Other achievements include, Arts Mark, Investors in People, Healthy Schools, Cisco Academy status, Excellent in Cities Mark, and Financial Mark status.

In 2004 the school became a Specialist language college.  More recently the school has received the prestigious Confucius Classroom status which links directly to our development of the teaching of Mandarin Chinese.

HSBC bank and Kingsford have established close links which have matured over the years.  HSBA now sponsor the school and the students for a number of ventures.

Most recently Brighton College a private fee paying school, has offered three of our students scholarships for those students to study A Levels at their school.  These scholarships have been supported by additional sponsorship from HSBC.  This link is now developing to allow students from Brighton to come to Kingsford for work experience and for staff from both schools to share good practice.

Over the years the school has established close international links, most notably in China where students go regularly on immersion courses and for work experience.  Our international links also mean that students complete work experience in France.

Kingsford is proud of its ethnically diverse intake where over sixty three different languages are spoken.  The Kingsford staff has now grown to over one hundred in number and represent countries from all over the world.

From its inception to the current day, Kingsford Community School is a thriving and diverse school community with close links to the local, national and international community.   It is in these communities where our history started and where our future will continue to thrive and where our aim is to fulfil everyone’s potential, staff and students.
