KS3 Resistant Materials
Resistant Materials at KS3 is focused on developing students’ practical skills to design and make quality products.
Developing their understanding of materials and their properties, and related working and construction techniques focusing largely on woods.
Including plastics and some metals students refine their use of workshop tools, equipment and processes.
These skills are currently explored through a variety of Focused Practical Tasks as mini introductory activities progressing with the making of photo frames in year7 and storage boxes for keepsakes and valuables in year 8.
In Year 7&8, parents can support their child’s learning by: -
- Ensuring all homework set is completed to the best of their child’s ability, each piece should take at least 30 minutes to complete
- Working with their child to ensure identified targets are met.
- Make a contribution to, or provide ingredients need for practical lessons
- Give student an opportunity at home to demonstrate/practice what they have learnt in school
- Also, all pupils have access to www.technologystudent.com. A resource that is very useful and can support your child’s learning.
